The logic2b VS Code extension is a repository-built preview of the native editor workflow. It uses the Activity Bar and Command Palette — there is no webview, hidden component fork or second installer.
What the preview does
| Surface | Contract |
|---|---|
| Registry explorer | Fetches /r/index.json, validates every item and groups Components, Blocks and Charts. |
| Search and docs | Filters name, title, description and categories; opens the matching public documentation route. |
| Install | Runs npx logic2b@next add <name> as a workspace task, so dependency resolution, icon rewriting and the install lock remain owned by the CLI. |
| Initialize | Runs npx logic2b@next init; a custom HTTPS registry can be configured with logic2b.registryUrl. |
| Apply preset | Patches theme.css with the shared @logic2b/tokens codec and updates components.json with the canonical preset, base color and icon library. |
Installed items are read from .logic2b/manifest.json and marked in the tree.
Multi-root workspaces ask which root should receive a command. File edits use
the VS Code workspace API, so SSH, WSL and container workspaces remain on their
workspace host instead of leaking through local node:fs paths.
Build and install the preview
Marketplace publication is deliberately not claimed yet. Build the validated VSIX from the repository:
pnpm install --frozen-lockfile
pnpm package:vscode
code --install-extension packages/vscode/dist/logic2b-ui.vsix
The package command type-checks and bundles the extension, then uses the exact pinned VSCE version to produce an installable archive. CI runs the same command and uploads the VSIX as a workflow artifact. The preview is 11.82 KiB and contains the manifest, docs, license, one 22 KiB extension-host bundle and its Activity Bar icon.
Commands
- logic2b: Search Registry and Refresh Registry control the explorer.
- logic2b: Install Item is available on every item; Install Components… supports multi-select from the Command Palette.
- logic2b: Initialize Workspace establishes
components.json, theme and install lock through the CLI. - logic2b: Apply Preset… accepts the id copied from /create and updates both theme and project metadata in one workspace edit.
- logic2b: Open Theme Studio opens
/createfor a new preset.
Restricted Mode is intentionally unsupported because install commands execute a task and presets write project files. Registry origins must use HTTPS; plain HTTP is accepted only for localhost development. The extension validates item names before any value can become a CLI argument.
